I’m a proven leader with over a decade of experience creating and optimizing user-centered websites and mobile apps. I’m currently leading the UX team at Hilton responsible for building out innovative features that will enhance the way customers find and book hotel stays. In 2020, I helped Hilton navigate the COVID-19 crisis by conducting critical user research to understand changes in customer booking preferences. In 2019, I led the design effort to migrate Hilton’s $10 billion booking engine to a new platform — all while increasing conversion and revenue. Previously, I shaped the digital presence for the Memphis Grizzlies and AutoZone. Now, I’m looking for opportunities to grow as a leader and UX practitioner.
I collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders in defining the UX strategy to drive innovation and improvements while balancing consistency and accessibility across responsive web and mobile platforms. I lead the UX design team through deliverables, from discovery to creation of user journey maps, concepts, wireframes, and prototypes. I build and strengthen relationships, collaboration, and trust among designers, front-end developers, product leaders, business stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams in multiple locations to create compelling experiences, test and validate design concepts, and maximize the achievement of corporate, brand, and hotel goals. I leverage partnerships with research, testing, and accessibility teams to elevate the usability of the hotel search and booking experience across web and mobile platforms. I recruit, develop, mentor, and mobilize a growing team of UX professionals in delivering customer value and enabling business success. I foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration, and strengthened alignment of solutions with design, content, technology, and business needs. I plan, track, and manage the successful delivery of multiple, simultaneous projects. I evaluate and improve workflows to increase efficiency and timely delivery across the agile delivery model.
I worked to create an outstanding, user-centric Hilton.com booking experience by actively assessing and recommending improvements to the website based on customer feedback, usability research findings, and best practices. I crafted process flows, conceptual diagrams, sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors. I collaborated with cross-functional teams to help develop a creative direction based on user experiences and product requirements. I used design thinking activities to understand user needs, define problems, work toward solutions, and contribute to Hilton’s long-term UX strategy roadmap. I advocated for usability, design, and innovation within the team and across the organization.
I managed day-to-day creative operations of the UX and UI design team to ensure optimal resource allocation and utilization. I collaborated with product managers, user researchers, designers, developers, and external vendors to prioritize UX and UI work and generate timelines for the completion of tasks and projects. I facilitated requirement gathering, design reviews, approvals, and feedback sessions with designers and stakeholders.
I led the team of web developers who created and maintained websites for the Memphis Grizzlies including Grizzlies.com, FedExForum.com, GrizzGaming.com, MemphisHustle.com, and GrindCityMedia.com. I was responsible for the strategic planning, design, and development for each website. I created responsive email templates for multiple brands. I created and maintained HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding standards and patterns. I collaborated with senior leadership to create the architecture, design, testing strategy, and content strategy for the Grizzlies mobile app.
I designed user-focused web pages, mobile apps, UI, marketing graphics, emails, and other digital assets for AutoZone.com, AutoZonePro.com, AutoZoneInc.com, AutoZone.com.mx, and AutoZone.com.br. I coded responsive web pages and features using HTML, CSS, and jQuery. I managed website content and made routine updates using Oracle’s ATG Business Control Center. I collaborated with business stakeholders to create wireframes and UI designs for new website features.
Outside of my full-time job, I've had the opportunity to work on several freelance projects. In 2020, I had the opportunity to partner with the Downtown Memphis Commission and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative to create a website (whyweneedatma.org) to share plans and gather feedback for a Transportation Management Association. In 2017, I redesigned textmy90.com and implemented trainwithboost.com. I've also done consulting for non-profit organizations and start-up businesses.
